Duplicate records in a linked dBase IV file missing due to index setting.
Cause:
This problem occurs when linking a dBase IV file to Access 7.0, and is because the 'Display First Duplicate Key Only' setting is turned on in the associated index file. This setting prevents records with duplicate primary key values from showing.
Solution:
Delete the link in Access 7.0, and then re-establish the link to the dBase IV file. When re-linking, make sure to manually select an index file that displays all records.
1) If the database with the desired link is not already open, open the database.
2) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
3) Click the 'Tables' tab.
4) Delete the link in Access:
a) Select the linked dBase file in the Database window.
NOTE: A linked dBase file table has an arrow in front of its name.

b) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Delete'. (A message appears asking to confirm the deletion.)
c) Click 'Yes'.
5) Re-establish the link to the dBase IV file:
a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Get External Data'. (A submenu appears.)
b) Select 'Link Tables...' from the submenu. (The Link dialog box appears.)
c) Select 'dBASE IV (*.dbf)' from the 'Files of type' drop-down list.
d) Select the drive where the dBase file is located from the 'Look in' drop-down list.
e) Select the folder that contains the dBase file from the 'Look in' list box. (The database file is displayed.)
NOTE: If the file is in a subfolder, continue selecting folders until the desired file is displayed.
f) Select the file. (The file is highlighted.)
g) Click 'Link'. (A message box appears asking whether to create a new index file or use the existing index file.)

h) Click 'Yes' to select a new index file. (The Select Index Files dialog box appears.)
i) Select the index file that displays all records.

j) Click 'Select'. (A message appears stating that Access has finished adding the index file.)
k) Click 'OK' to close the message box.
l) Click 'Close' to close the 'Select Index Files' dialog box. (The Select Unique Record Identifier dialog box appears.)
m) Select the unique identifier for the dBase file from the 'Indexes' list box.

n) Click 'OK'. (A message appears stating that the file has been successfully linked.)
o) Click 'OK' to close the message box. (The Link dialog box reappears.)
p) Click 'Close' to close the 'Link' dialog box.
